Unexpected Animation Curve on Kindle Fire

Titanium SDK 2.1.4 Developing on OS X 10.8.2

Although animation curves are supposed to be linear on Android devices according to the docs, it appears that they are actually ease-in, ease-out. The app I am porting from iOS to Android is a game with a scrolling background and the scrolling constantly slows down and then speeds up again each time the animation begins and ends.

I tried Ti.UI.ANIMATION_CURVE_LINEAR to no avail. Can I not override this? If not, can someone suggest an alternative mechanism (marketplace module maybe) that handles sprites and animations well on Android, specifically Kindle.
